Fourth Annual Feminist Art History Conference

Katzen Arts Center, American University, Friday, Nov. 8 – Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013

The Art History Program of American University announces the fourth annual Feminist Art History Conference, to be held from November 8-10, 2013. Sessions on Friday afternoon will be followed by an opening reception and keynote address; sessions continue on Saturday. Keynote address: Dr. Patricia Simons, “Devotion and Desire: Women Viewers and the Case of the ‘Lesbian Nun’ in Early Seventeenth-Century Italy.” An exhibition of work by Faith Ringgold will be on display at the National Museum of Women in the Arts; a panel discussion on contemporary women artists will take place there on Sunday.

Online registration requested by Friday, Nov. 1. Conference fee of $45 ($25 student rate, with ID) includes all sessions, keynote address, receptions, coffee breaks, catered lunch on Saturday, and museum events: http://www.american.edu/cas/art-history/femconf/index.cfm.
