Research grant in Aesthetic Studies

Dr. Richard Brettell has once again generously raised funds to support Graduate Research Grants in Aesthetic Studies. Only students concentrating in HUAS are eligible to apply for these grants.

If you are undertaking research and/or creative activities involving travel out of state or are engaged in professional training unavailable at UT-Dallas, you are eligible to apply for funding. Priority will be given to projects directly connected to requirements in the degree plan, and Ph.D. students have priority over M.A. students. This round of awards is for activities taking place between September of 2013 and April of 2014.

These funds are not meant to support participation in conferences (this is the purpose of the School’s travel grants) and cannot be used in support of research within the state of Texas.

Students interested in applying for these funds to support activities this summer should write a 1- to 2-page proposal (introducing the project, explaining its relation to your academic progress and its contribution to your larger academic field) plus an appended budget. Please send these materials to Pierrette Lacour at pierret@utdallas.edu and copy me on the email no later than October 11, 2013. Recipients will be required subsequently to generate a report on the results of their funded research and to write a note of thanks to the donor(s) of these funds.

Grants are modest in size and the amount of funding available is limited. Grants always take the form of reimbursement for allowable expenses.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
