The Student Success Center is now hiring writing consultants who can begin work in fall 2013. Consultants work in the Writing Center, assisting both undergraduate and graduate students with their writing. They work on a part-time basis and earn $16.50 per hour if they’ve received a master’s degree and $15.50 per hour if they’re in the process of obtaining a master’s degree.
A consultant must be a currently enrolled graduate student and should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as a comprehensive knowledge of academic writing, including knowledge of rhetorical principles, research strategies, and English grammar, mechanics, and usage. According to university policy, the Center cannot hire teaching assistants.
Applicants should send a letter of interest, a resume or CV, and a writing sample in the form of an academic essay of 5 to 20 pages to Thomasina Hickmann at firstname.lastname@example.org
An applicant who is selected for an interview will be asked to provide a letter of recommendation from a faculty member, preferably one who teaches in the applicant’s chosen field of study.
